What are the most important rewards in your career and why did you choose it?
The "Youth of the Year" (Boys and Girls Club's scholarship winners over the years) is a big reward. It's enjoyable to know their stories and how successful they become.
What are your interests outside of work?
I like woodworking, golf (doesn't matter about the score, it's just great to be out enjoying the game), and seeing my kids and grandkids.
What accomplishments have given you the most satisfaction and why?
Winning the Jim Wetherington Southwesterners Award in 1999. Nominees are selected by their peers in Boys and Girls Clubs across eight different regions.
On a day to day basis, I can be in my office working on something that is challenging, and I'll take a break and walk out to see all of the kids- it picks up my day every time.
Who is your hero?
My dad. My dad was left-handed and he lost his left arm to cancer when I was very young. I can remember watching him tie his shoes with one hand. My dad worked for the Tulsa Tribune for 45 years and taught me a lot about life and respect.
What two or three things are most important to you in your job?
Making an impact on a child's life. It's also important to enjoy what you do.
